I am getting an error message when I go to open my AutoCAD 2014 for MAC that says: Fatal Error: WHIP Failed to initialize.

Any help on what to do to correct this is appreciated....I am dead in the water until I can get this fixed.

Welcome to Autodesk Forums!

Hi,

What Mac model do you have?
Does this happens just after installation?
If no and you was able to run AutoCAD on your Mac successfully: have you tried to reset or to reinstall AutoCAD?

I have a Macbook Pro with OS X, Version 10.9.5

I was running my AutoCAD with no issue until this last week when I started getting the Fatal Error.
I have not tried to reset or reinstall and I am not sure even how to do that.

Thank you.

Are you able to launch AutoCAD now? Or it doesn't start at all?

If you are not able to start it you have to be sure that your AutoCAD was updated with Service Pack 1 in order to reset AutoCAD with this method:
you need to launch AutoCAD from Dock by holding Shift key on keyboard and clicking on AutoCAD icon (you need to hold Shift for at least a few moments after you click on icon). This helps in the case when you cannot start AutoCAD normally

That did not work for me unfortunately.  I went ahead and uninstalled and reinstalled.  That did the trick.

As a side note for anyone else with similar issue, when I reinstalled, the installer would not move forward until I killed the remaining AutoCAD 360 application that did not get removed during the unistall.  I had to go into the activity monitor, scroll through the activities till I found the AUTOCAD360, highlight it then delete it.  Then you can get the re-install to move forward.  Sounds simple, but took me quite a bit of time searching as I am not an APPLE MAC wiz-kid ;-)>

Thank you.

I am having this same exact issue only after I finally uninstalled and reinstalled (it also took me awhile to figure out to go to my activity monitor to kill autodesk 360) I am still receiving the "WHIP failed to initialize" message. This is a very important file for my final coming up due Tuesday! Please help.

Welcome to Autodesk Forums!

Hi,
If you have AutoCAD 2014 with SP1 installed or newer version you can try to reset AutoCAD- hold Shift key while you pick on AutoCAD icon in the Dock:

I am trying this and it is not seeming to help any. I have SP1 downloaded almost positive. (Not sure how to check though)

Hi Friends,

I had a same problem with My MAC book. It was crushing whenever I am attempting to open any files it will popup the window Fatal error.WHIP failed to initialize.

Thanks a lot Maxim !! My problem has resolved by using the following trick :

Launch AutoCAD from Dock by holding Shift key on keyboard and clicking on AutoCAD icon (you need to hold Shift for at least a few moments after you click on icon) and Double click on the AutoCAD icon without left shift key. With this process your AutoCAD reset all your existing setting as default setting.

No need to remove Autocad and reinstallation task. Thanks !!!

Best Regards,

Hemant.
