Assigned Line Length Issue

Hi, I am a student who is trying to use AutoCAD for Mac. I have set up my units section as directed so that it is under architectural, decimal, and in inches. But when I type in 3 to designate a 3" line and type enter, the line length produced isn't 3". My settings are all correct so I'm completely at a loss for why this isn't giving me the precise line length I am asking it to.

Drawing units in AutoCAD couldn't be architectural and decimal at the same time.

They can be either Architectural:

I can draw 3" line by:

- picking start point

- entering 3 and hitting Return

The resulting line length is 0'-3".

Please describe your workflow.

What length of the line do you get with DIST command?

I am unsure how, but I believe the issue has resolved itself.
