Any way to combine the main window and ribbons into one window?

Any way to combine the main window and ribbons into one window?

Hi, I have a client trialling AutoCAD 2105 for the Mac (he has always been a Windows user until now). Because he has a MacBook Pro and needs to view email etc frequently he wants AutoCAD to minimise like any other app - which it doesn't.

There are a bunch of ribbons and the main window to minimise and then restore. Very much like the old versions of Photoshop used to have.

I have searched the forums and Google for a way to dock these floating ribbons/toolbars but there doesn't seem to be a way to do it on the Mac.

Has anyone found a way to do it or a work-around he can try? If not I suspect the MacBook will be going in a cupboard and never coming out again :cara_con_una_leve_sonrisa:

Welcome to Autodesk Forums!

Hi,

You can dock Palettes in AutoCAD for Mac to the sides of the screen (the default layout after installation). But you cannot "combine" everything in a single window.
At the same time as soon as you switch the focus to another application AutoCAD Palettes go away an you don't need to minimize them manually even if they are floated.
Your client can also try "Show Palettes as icons" mode.

Hi, thank you for that. I suspect it's going to go in the bin then.

As well as not liking the way it minimises and moves, he also runs dual screens (an external monitor attached to the MacBook) and dragging to the other screen makes his language turn a touch colourful.

I wonder why Autodesk chose to implement this kind of layout as it has long been abandoned by other Mac software.

Thank you for your help.
