Another "Title Block will not Print" issue

Anonymous

So, I have tried all the answers I have read on the forums for this problem and nothing has worked.  Had this layout printing yesterday and then I reloaded the title block after some changes and then it wouldn't print.  Not sure what I did.  My brain is jello at this point and I was wondering if someone could check this file over for the answer.

The Layout with Title Block are visible in the "Plot" Pop-up box.  When I send it to preview all that prints is the content within the viewports.  Title block does not print.  Printer is current and working.  I think I'm just missing a checkbox or something.

Thanks!!

Hi Keith,

Title block you are using has "Annotative" property that does not make sense to have in a Layout, further more this property prevents this block from printing.
You need to open this block in Block Editor, uncheck "Annotative" property in the Properties Inspector and save block. Now it will be printable from Layout.

Maxim!!!  Thanks!

I totally get the "not needful to have the block annotative".  Didn't even see that it was, but know how it happened.  This does nothing for the why.  Why does having a title block annotative cause it not to print?  That doesn't compute for me as many things are annotative and they do print.  Are blocks themselves not annotative?  Can you send me somewhere to read about this behavior?

>>>>>>Why does having a title block annotative cause it not to print?
The reason that you do not see title block when printing is due to another additional property of Annotative objects (blocks) - "Match orientation to layout". When you use Annotative block in Layout, AutoCAD "rotates" it during printing (although it shows such block without rotation in the drawing), so paper size you select for Page setup does matter.
In your drawing current page setup has paper size 11x17 inch, and in this case Title block gets rotated 90 degrees (as it was created "Match orientation to layout" property) with so it moved out of printing area and you cannot see it on print output.
If you will change parer size to 17x11 inc (without changing orientation from Landscape to Portrait), nothing will be changed in the drawing, but block will print (see attached PDF, I created from your drawing).
So the bottom line is - don't use Annotative objects (and blocks, of course) in paper space in Layout - they are not designed to use in Paper space.

>>>>>Are blocks themselves not annotative?
Blocks can be annotative, but you haven't use them in paper space to avoid such confusions. Annotative property was designed for Model space and for viewports in Layouts.

See my explanation at the beginning of this post.
