AecbDbWire?

I have a set of drawings form our electrical contractor that contain several objects (blocks?) that do not display in my drawings, instead they are replaced with a box containing the caption seen below.  They open fine on other computers in our office, and the users claim they haven't done anything special to display these objects.  Both my software and OS are up to date.   I have been through google and these forums and havent been able to fine a definitive  solution.  Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advanced, Eric

Hi Eric,

The drawings you are trying to open in AutoCAD for Mac were created with AutoCAD Electrical (or other AutoCAD vertical). These objects should appear as Proxy objects on your Mac. Do you see warning message from AutoCAD when you open such drawings? AutoCAD should give you 3 options - show Proxy if it is possible, show bounding box or don't show.
In AutoCAD for Mac you can see (but not edit) such objects.
You may ask your colleagues to explode such objects to ordinary AutoCAD objects on their computers before sending file to you.

I appreciate the quick response.  I do not see a prompt when I open the drawing, however its possible that at one time I received this prompt and selected the "show bounding box" option and also selected the "remember my preferences" check when doing so.  Is it possible to reverse this selection and display the proxy?

Thank you again, however even after selecting the "show objects when available" option the bounding boxes are still displayed.   Screen Shot 2015-12-07 at 12.59.42 PM.png

Check also PROXYSHOW sys variable, if it is set to 1, than it appears that AutoCAD for Mac cannot show objects created with AutoCAD MEP. Try to restart AutoCAD.
BTW: you will always see only bounding boxes instead of OLE objects.
Ask your colleagues to explode MEP objects if it is possible.
