About importing from Illustrator

Hi! If I create a simple square in Illustrator and imports that into autoCAD there are no problems. But if I create a shape that are a bit more advanced and imports into autoCAD I cant extrude it. And the drawing has thicker white lines in autoCAD, compared to the normal thickened lines.. What does that mean?

Hi,

Curved objects in most cases come as splines when imported from AI. If they are closed, than in theory you should be able to extrude it. So at first verify that they are closed and doesn't self-intersect.
You can also try to convert splines from AI to Polylines with PEDIT command before extruding them.
Can you attach sample AI file you have troubles with?

I dubblechecked that all endpoints are snapped into eathother.. How can I make sure that they are they are closed and doesn't self-intersect?

1. In AutoCAD you get blocks after exporting from Illustrator - you need to explode them

2. I drew red circles in the places where splines and polylines self-intersect

So generally - it is not a good idea to draw something in Illustrator and than extrude exported objects  in AutoCAD. I think it is easier to draw in AutoCAD, than extrude.
