2016 publish offset problem

We have 12 iMacs running various versions of AutoCAD. The two running 2016 seem to have an issue with publishing all files where they shift the whole page up 3mm and right 3mm.

The same files publish fine on all other machines with all the same settings.

A temporary workaround seems to be to create a new page setup with a bespoke paper size that is borderless (with 0mm non-printable margin), and then setting the offset to 3mm in both X and Y. When this is then set  as the page setup in the drop down list the publish seems to work okay.

Any ideas what's causing this and how to fix this properly?

Hi,

This could be an issue related to OS level paper size handling.
Do you Batch Publish to PDF or to physical device? Do you have the same printing software on all of the machines?

Hi Maxim,

We're publishing to PDF.

We have only one printer and all machines have the same printer software and Adobe software. As far as I'm aware they don't have any custom overrides for print settings apart from those I just created.

The two AutoCAD 2016 machines are running MacOS Sierra and OSX El Capitan, - all of the others are running these also so don't think its OS related.

Is the publishing to PDF controlled by AutoCAD directly or is there anything else that affects this?

So you have this problem only in 2016 version of AutoCAD. Is that correct?
if so, than this could be AutoCAD related issue.
Sorry, but I'm not aware of the publishing details in AutoCAD on software level. I only know that saving to PDF from Print dialog managed differently than when you use Batch Publish.
Have you tried to save to PDF from Print dialog? Does the problem shows in this case?

Yes issue only appears in publishing in 2016.

Saving to PDF from the print dialog is working fine as expected and as on all other machines and versions.

Do you use custom paper size in page setup for batch publish?
Can you attach one of your drawings? I can look at it on my machine.

No custom papers size are set.

I've just quickly recreated the problem starting with the blank acadlt.dwt template file - file attached along with PDFs showing the difference from publishing in 2015 & 2016.

When I change from A3 to A3 borderless (in either 2015 or 2016) the layout area shifts up 3mm and right 3mm which seems a bit co-incidental... although this would crop the bottom and left as opposed to the top and right as is happening..

So in 2015 publish seems to preserves the layout area as-is, but in 2016 it seems to be shifting the layout 3mm down and 3mm left.

Here's a screen shot for when Borderless A3 is set.

Bit more exploration has revealed that setting A3 borderless in either version in page setup (and then moving the drawing 3mm) then seems to make publishing across both machines work okay, so presumably something to do with print margins.

Whilst technically possible to change all sheets to borderless and adjusting drawings... its a lot of hassle for each paperspace!

Whilst exploring this I've been told than the paper size in page setup hasn't been appearing correct either when created by someone on an earlier version so this may be related...? I've just tested this and whatever papersize is set in 2015 when opened in 2016 then just seems to default back to A4, and vice versa.

No issues between 2013 and 2015 on other machines, and also prior to installing 2016 they actually had 2013 which was working fine with no issues so can't imagine its a printer settings or OS issues.

I tested your drawing on my side with a couple of different printing devices and got the same problem in 2016 version. So looks like the issue is AutoCAD 2016 related: something gets wrong with batch publish if paper in layout have margins.

To say true I I did not notice this problem before, because I always use borderless paper sizes (custom) for page setups.

I cannot test in 2015 version today, but will be able to test tomorrow. I will report about results here.

Thanks Maxim.

Any ideas if this also happens on the Windows side of things...?

Just wondering/checking that its just 2016 Mac that is different to everything else including windows versions.
