2016 LT for Mac - Will not launch, Shockwave 32bit browser error

Hi All,

I have just installed AutoCAD LT for Mac and it will not launch. It comes up with a small (What I presume browser window) Autodesk Account window and then a Shockwave Player Error, saying that it needs to open the browser in 32 bit mode. See attached screenshot. Once you click ok, ACad just hangs.

I am running El Capitain and have Firefox as my default browser. I am running Safari 9 and Firefox 44.0.2. The Flash player is the latest. As far as I can find out you can no longer run those applications as 32bit mode.

Has anyone else had this issue and is there a work around?

Thank you

Welcome to Autodesk Forums!

Hi,
I think something is wrong on the OS level on your Mac, but not sure.

Can you try to find on your Mac this file:

DirectorShockwave.plugin

The file should be in "Internet Plug-ins" folder inside your home Library folder:
~/Library/Internet Plug-ins

If you will find this file - Quit Safari, MOVE the file I mentioned above from the original location to some safe place (for example to USB stick) or trash it, than restart Safari. Now try AutoCAD installation again.

Hi,

Thank you for your reply, I did try that solution and it did stop the 32bit error from coming up however ACad still would not launch. It would just open the login window and then hang. I am still not sure what the issue was, but I was able to resolve it by creating a new user on my MBP and migrating to that user and deleting my old one. So there was obviously something with that user that was causing the web launch of ACad to hang.

Thanks again.
