2016 AutoCAD LT Text issue

2016 AutoCAD LT Text issue

I would like to rotate horizontal text to orient vertically sometimes.  I can't seem to get get anything to work.

This can't be this hard.  Back in the 2006 version, all I had to do was highlight the text and use the rotate feature.

Very frustrating not being able to simply rotate text to make the drawing look cleaner.

Can anyone help?

Thanks

I forgot to add that this is a AutoCAD LT for Mac subscription if that matters.

Hi Dave,

Exactly the same you can do on Mac.
If you cannot use ROTATE command on pre-selected text - please verify that PICKFIRST system variable is set to 1.

Thank you Maxim for your suggestions, but it doesn't help.

The pickfirst is set to 1, but when I highlight the text and click rotate, it just rotates around the base point. I want to take a text line that is horizontal and rotate it vertically.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Hi Dave,

>>>> it just rotates around the base point.
Of course it should rotate around base point.

Sorry, but I cannot understand what you want to achieve.
Do you want text to be written vertically like this:
T
E
X
T
?

Con you illustrate somehow?

Thank you again for your help,

I will try to explain what I am trying to do:

I have a horizontal line on a drawing with text above that line.

I then draw a vertical line off of that horizontal line.  I would like to rotate the text drawn horizontally 90 degrees to now read vertically.  I don't want the letters to spell out vertically, I just want to rotate the text to follow the new vertical line.

I hope that helps explain what I want to do.  Back in the 2006 version ( and not the Mac version) all I had to do was highlight the text, pick a point and pull the text or type in 90 and it would work.  Now when I highlight and pick a point, it will just let me move around a point keeping the text horizontal.

Thanks again for any help,

Dave

Hi Dave,

Are speaking about editing with grips?
- When you select text blue square appears in the insertion point of the text and you need to pick this square which turns in red.
Than on Mac you have the same functionality as on Windows. In order to be able to Rotate text (or any other object) with grips you need to hit spacebar one time to switch grip editing mode to ROTATE.

I am having the same proble.  I am using a windows-based workstation.  I click on the text, and a blue dot appears on the lower left-hand corner.  I right-click on that, and a long menu appears.  I choose rotate, and tell it 90 degrees, but that moves the text, it doesn't rotate it.  Please help.  Thank you.

Welcome to Autodesk Forums!

Hi,
You need to pick blue grip at first (it turns red) than right click to open context menu and select Rotate from it.
