You should be able to update the component cross references using the Right Click--->Update/Retag function, and not just using the project wide utility function. Sometimes all you want to do is verify one component has been updated as apposed to checking all of the components in a project or even just in that drawing. Some of the drawings I work on use large numbers of relays and contacts in a single drawing, and updating one of them can be a very time consuming proposition.
