Wire number disappear with trim

We are using ACADE 2018 with all updates.  We put copied wire numbers on all rungs (pictures attached).  If we use the trim function to a wire (in my case after the terminal) ALL the wires numbers get removed.  Can someone explain how to prevent this?  I can just delete the wire and not have it delete the wire numbers but want to use the trim function without erasing all my copied wire numbers.  Pictures are attached.

Can you provide details on exactly how you put those copied wire numbers on the rungs? Did you just straight up use the COPY command? Or did you use ACADE's 'Copy Wire Number' tool?

I use the the ACADE copy wire number function in the Schematics Tab, Edit Wires/Wire Numbers panel and just click down the line.

Well, I went to one of my drawings and duplicated how you've got your stuff set up in the images you posted. I went to an existing ladder, drew new wires from it that landed on an I/O card, and added wire number copies to them. This gave them the same wire number as the bus. Then I added terminal blocks. Finally I went to trim the wire between the terminal and the I/O module using the ACADE trim wire tool.

My new wire number copies disappeared, but the old ones stayed. So, I can duplicate this issue. But I haven't found a way around yet, at least not one that still used the trim command. As you noted, you could just delete that line and get the same result. However the point is that using the trim wire tool shouldn't affect wire number copies that exist elsewhere on that wire's signal path.

Let's hope someone else can chime in with more info. If it goes too long without more help, we can maybe reach out to Pat Murnen.

I am wondering if someone from Autodesk can look at this and see why the trim doesn't work.  I cannot tag Pat using the @ symbol (name doesn't come up).  Thanks

@Anonymous

Pat, any thoughts on this before we try to elevate this post or start a case?

Thanks

Hi, sorry I didn't respond sooner. I've been out of the office for a while and actually won't be back in until next week. I can try this then if it hasn't already been escalated and looked at by the team. Just let me know.

Thank you for getting to it Pat.  I have not heard from anyone else on this yet so I would appreciate your additional help when you get back.

If you can forward me the drawing shown in the screen shots, I'll go through it and forward it to the product team (once I reproduce the behavior).

Have you tried to reproduce the behavior independently yet? I was able to. I didn't have the OP's drawing.

I can't forward that drawing, but it is duplicated on every drawing I do.  Do you need just a blank or something?  If so I could get to that later today or maybe tomorrow after I complete a couple of things.

Yes, that would be great. Any drawing in which the behavior can be reproduced will suffice. Thanks.

It is every drawing.  I have duplicated and attached a new drawing.

@zalant I am wondering if there has been anything yet on this.  It has been about a year and we upgraded to ACADE 2020 and it is still doing this.  We add duplicate wire numbers to all rungs and using trim is removing all of them and I have to redo my work.

This is still an open issue. I will add this information to the issue. The more information I can add as to how it affects your ability to do your work, the better the team can prioritize.

Sorry, I didn't have a better answer at this time.

that is OK, thank you for looking at it and the reply.  It just reminded me as I was fighting it the other day so figured I would check.
