Wire number and color format

For something that seems like it would be fairly simple to do I'm having a lot of trouble doing a simple format for my wire numbers.

I want to utilize automatic wire numbering with the format Wire Color Wire Number (BLK 101, WHT 102, GRN 103, BLU 104, and so on...)

I have attempted using the Format override set up for %G %N but it does not start to sequence the number until the wire color is repeated, see image:

I also attempted to change the Layer Setup under Wire Numbers in the Project Properties which had the same effect:

Anyone know which format to use to accomplish this?

When using the Wire Layer Override, it will start numbering each layer on the specified start number. You won't be able to achieve what you want using standard functionality.
You can look into export/import to/from Excel, and do some magic in excel to manipulate the Wire numbers.

As a well known Meerkat in a commercial says "Simmplllles"

here's the saved formatting with the start value and the increment value

hers the filter for the numbering

and here's the filter numbering format

Counter being the number

separator being "-"

data of connection is connection number/colour

and here's a preview of the result what's intrusting here the new connection designation Colum is editable from here no need to export to excel and massage the values then reimport the modified values all done in side the application

but then again you can cut and paste whole columns of data no problem if you just happen to have some exotic numbering in a excel

Iit was confirmed yesterday that the French financial regulator has let Group Schneider buy See electrical which now means ACADE is the only Major ECAD programme  which doesn't have the Technical might of an electrical engineering company as a parent company

how's Autodesk going to spin the lack of Electrical engineering technical expertise supporting the product now ?

Thank you for the detailed response. Is AutoCAD Electrical the program you are using? I am using AutoCAD Electrical 2017; I don't seem to have the same formatting options as you. Though, it may be my slight lack of experience.

No that isn't ACADE.

I know its a big problem using software that just works

but my next contract will be using ACADE so I can join the rest of you guys spending half the day swearing at the screen because the software cant do what other products can do straight out of the box

but I look on the bright side the contract is for 2 years where as if it was done in Eplan It would be for 6 months for the same amount of work

for the sake of being thorough:

In conclusion, I have discussed the issue with fellow engineers at my company and we have decided to just change our standard wire number format in order to work with ACADE rather than trying to force it to do what we want it to do.

We will just be placing a wire color/gauge label at the beginning of each wire and just numbering the wires sequentially.
