Using the Multi-document interface in AutoCad Electrical 2017

I have been trying to use the MDI to view more than one drawing with a view to dragging and dropping, or cutting and pasting items between drawings.

I fell at the first hurdle.

If I open 2 drawings from a project, and (I have to manually) arrange them side by side, I can't simply click in the drawing I want to focus on as the start page keep coming to the front,  window keeps disappearing, and I get other strange effects.

There doesn't seem to be any sensible autoarrange, or means of tiling vertically or horizontally either

Is this functionality not supported, or is there a setting I need to change?

I'm using a windows7 64bit machine if that's relevant.

There is a Multi-document interface? You can tile the window and make it smaller to see them side by side if you wish:

I generally simply hit CTRL+TAB to cycle left to right through tabs, or CTRL+SHIFT+TAB to go right to left.

I always turn off the start tab.
That being said, try the command SYSWINDOWS on the command line.
