User1 Field Customization

We are currently adding cost to our bill of material. I have added the information to the recommended USER1 field of the catalog access file. I have been able to get the information to transfer to my footprint (panel) components and make a panel report.  I am unable to get it to work with our PLCIO components. Is there an attribute I need to add?  Or is the USER1 thru 3 fields not available in this type of schematic component. Schematic reports show the USER1, USER2 and USER3 field as available, but when I run a report the USER1 column is blank.  I have tried running a schematic report as "Normal Tallied Format" and "Display in Tallied Purchase List Format".

Hi.

Are you using just one primary database or do you have some of the data, like the USER1 for the PLC, in a secondary database?

We use one database for everything.

If you create a small test-project, and add two component. One regular, and on PLC. Still got the problem?

If you now create a project specific catalog database... Still got problems?

Could you now post this little project here, including the catalog database, or share it via A360/Dropbox or the like?

Hi there,

Just a word of caution for your setup.  In older versions of ACE the USER1 field is not always the users field.  You may find that with some servo and vfd drives and motors the USER1 field in the part data record is being used for specification like torque and inertia etc.  We found this out after months of data input, we used USER1 for the company internal part number.  Had to go back through it and move the USER1 data to the USER2 field.

I created a project specific catalog database.  Still no information in USER1 field.  A project specific catalog wouldn't be a good solution for us anyway, because we use a common catalog database for everyone.  I appears schematic components in general don't work. I hadn't notice this before because we use our own custom PLC IO schematic only on diagrams and none of the electrical standards. To simplify things there is only information in the TS section of the catalog.

I've had a look, and it seems like PLCIO-symbole MUST use data from the PLCIO-table in the database.
I tried to add the WDBLKNAM with a value of "HTS" to the plc-symbol, to "force" it to lookup in the TS-table.Did'nt work.

Copied the data from the TS-table to the PLCIO-table. Everything worked fine.

So, it seems that the catalog data for you PLC's MUST reside in the PLCIO table within the catalog.

Thank you.  That a much is easier solution than rebuilding our library of components, which we really didn't want to do and loose all the unique properties of a PLC IO component.  Fortunately are overall database is not to large to transfer.
