Unable to create new project

In AutoCAD Electrical 2020 I am unable to create a new project.  I can go to the project manager and click on new project, fill out the details in the dialog and then when I click on OK I am presented with a blank error message.  The new projects folder is created in Windows but it is empty and everything else fails to get created.  See attached screenshots.

I would do the following, in this order, and check in between each step to see if this behavior is fixed:
1. Reset settings to defaults (this is usually found under the start menu, in the AutoCAD folder)
2. Perform a repair on the software (go through the motions as if you want to uninstall, you'll be presented with the option to repair)
3. Reinstall the software.

Be sure to back up any customizations you've added before doing any of this.

Resetting to default settings has fixed the issue.

Thanks.

We have exactly the same problem with Autocad Electrical 2021 and none of the 3 solutions helped. Is there anything else to try or some idea how to diagnose underlying problem?

This is the only issue we have found during 1 month of usage with this Autocad installation, using standard Autocad though.

SOLVED! We opened a sample project as administrator and after that it is possible to make new projects as regular user as well. However the sample project cannot be closed and always appears on the navigation panel.

Generally speaking, ACAD and ACADE both run better if you can give Administrator-level privileges to the user. The software likes to read and write data from many locations on the computer (especially ACADE) and it's best to not restrict any of its access. Lots of IT folks don't like that, though, because it's more difficult for them to manage. FYI, YMMV

As for the demo project that can't be closed...if it's the only project in the project manager, you won't be able to. Create another project first. The Project Manager is a little wonky in some respects. Most of its options are greyed out until you open a drawing, for example, even if the drawing you open isn't a part of the current project. Similarly, Project Manager seems to need to have at least one project in it to be open, so it won't let you close a project if it's the only one.

If there are multiple projects open and you still can't close the demo project, that's a weird problem. Post back if that's going on so we can take a closer look.
