How do you represent a three wire prox switch? Do I need to create a custom symbol?
Solved! Go to Solution.
In the icon menu you enter proximity switches and select the type of sensor, where you will find the necessary representation of a cable or three cables
Attached is a screenshot of how I draw these. I use the NFPA library, and there is a wire connection point at the top of the symbol (where the cyan wire lands in the image.)
Jim
Hi there,
I do pretty much the same thing Jim does. Modify the out of the box symbols just a bit to fit your application. Just as a thought, for extreme efficiency, modify the symbol to fit your schematic spacing. I use 0.75 inch. I try to make each type of symbol have some unique feature to identify it for my non English friends. The other thing I will do is to put little stems for the top and bottom wire connections to allow a little room for a wire number right at the symbol and that provides for all horizontal wire. Which is to say one click on the power rail, one click on the little stem, no vertical wire required. Just a thought.
Good luck
