Put some attibutes on different layer

Hello ALL

I have a symbol (attached) that has some attributes on a different layer. The reason for the different layer is so we can turn on the layer for production and turn it off for the final customer drawing.

I created the symbol and put the attributes on the desired layer. When I insert the symbol the attribute does not come in on the correct layer so I cannot turn it off.

Is there a way to correctly do this, put an attribute on a different layer then the other attributes?

If I explode the symbol it show up on the correct layer.

The attributes i am looking to hide are cat01, cat02 mfg01, mfg02 etc

Hi.

I'm not in front of my computer now, but from the top of my head, here's the fix:

Go to drawing/project properties, and the last tab. There's a layer button there. In the latter drop, check the checkbox "apply only to object on layer 0"

With this setting on, object in a block that is NOT on layer"0", will stay on it's original layer.

Trond Hasse Lie,

I see the layer button and checked the "Apply to entities on layer 0" only but it does nothing to change the layer on the symbol.

I have tried deleting all the symbols, purging then adding it the symbol.

I have deleted, purged and rebooted.

I have added the layer to the drawing before putting in the symbol.

The text I want on my hidden layer is coming in on the Misc layer.

I have tried to change the component block layer (on the layer button) under Miscellaneous text to hidden.

FYI I am running AcadE 2017

Any other ideas?

Did you check that checkbox for the DRAWING properties also?

Yeah that was my problem. I edited the project properties and did not update the drawing properties.
