Project not creating Scratch Database

Hi all,

 

I have a problem (one of many) with ACADE 2015 SP1.

 

It seems that it doesn't update the Scratch Database properly - if at all. Sometimes it doesn't even create a database and this causes reports to fail with "No Data to Display" in the commandline.

 

So I realise this is the root of all problems to do with loss of Cross Reference data, the AERESEQUENCE command doesn't work and crashes with the following error: -

 

Application does not support just-in-time (JIT)
debugging. See the end of this message for details.

The error means that the components catalogue doesn't total up its "ITEM" numbers correctly and duplicates are rife.

 

Is there any way to force creation of a Scratch Database? I know it should do it automatically from project drawing data - but its just not happening and there is no evidence to suggest why?

 Hi Chris,

 

First make sure that you have full read/write access to the following default Locations:

 

C:\Users\<User name>\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\AutoCAD Electrical 20XX\RXX.X\enu\Support

C:\Users\<User name>\AppData\Local\Autodesk\AutoCAD Electrical 20XX\RXX.X\enu

C:\Users\Public\Documents\Autodesk\Acade 20XX

 

(where 20XX is your version of ACADE, and RXX.X is the revsion code for your Release)

 

You can test by trying to make a txt file then add random typing and try to save. 

If you cannot create the text file, then likely you are not an admin or have UAC turned to the top level.

If you can create it but not edit it, it means the file folder structure is in a read only state. 

 

 

After you confirm that you have full read/write access, Run Rebuild Project. 

(type in AEREBUILDDB in the commandline, the command is loaded but its not in the Ribbon)

 

if this doesn't work, then you need to reset the product.

in the start menu, goto Autodesk folder or AutoCAD Electrical folder (depends on the version installed, Should be an AutoCAD Electrical folder in your case) look for: Reset Settings to default - AutoCAD Electrical (if your running windows 8 search for it, if you have more then 1 version run them all I guess)

Hi Jalger,

 

The prior steps didn't achieve anything, but backing up the ACADE settings - doing a Reset to Default and then importing the ACADE settings again seems to have restored functionality to this particular problem project.

 

Fingers crossed this now keeps the software on track, but at least I know there is an action plan if it goes into a state where all the AutoCAD tools no longer work.

 

I ran the Cross-Reference update tool and it took a while for 8 relays but when it had finished, all the contact Cross Ref's were now correct.
