Plot Project is Missing Pages

ACADE 2014 has suddenly developed an annoying habit of missing pages from a plot project.

Nothing in the sheets has changed (to my knowlegde).  My colleagues get the same thing with the same pages.  There are no no-plot layers on the sheet and an Audit does not fix.

What we do is try and publish the entire project and a few sheets don't print (each user has the same sheets not printing!!).  If you do a plot project and include only one of the sheets which won't print as part of a multiple sheet plot, it still doesn't print.

But, you can manually plot a single sheet and it does come out of the printer.

Anyone else had this?

i did have an issue a few years back with acade not plotting

what it turned out to be was the printer drivers ?

what we ended up doing was printing to PDF and then sent the PDF to the printer

so try generating a PDF first to see if you still lose the pages

Yep, print to PDF and it works.  No missing pages!!

Might be printer drivers but they haven't been updated.  Strange behavior though to miss random pages.  Really odd

Unfortunately printing to a PDF is not a solution but a work around to a problem.

The cause needs to be identified - in this case it is not the printer drivers.

Has Autodesk any idea what would cause this?  Have others reported this?

When you have isolated a sheet that doesn't print:

Type this at the command line...

1. LOGFILEON

2. AEONLISPDEBUG

3. "Run the plot sequence"

4. AEOFFLISPDEBUG

5. LOGFILEOFF

6. LOGFILENAME

Post this log-file here and I'll have a look at it.

Attached is a log as requested.

Nothing actually looks out of place but then again I don't know what I'm looking for exactly.... Smiley Very Happy

To keep things simple, I ran the plot with a single 'unprintable' page.  The log has been edited to remove customer specific information but obviously not any commands etc...

Seems like it's something wrong with the flux capacitor 😄

I'll have a look at the log 🙂

Can you post a similar log for a file that works? Seems like you're plotting with "visual styles" on this drawing...

Well, that's odd.

This one is shorter; considerably Smiley Surprised

Try this.

1. Open the problematic drawing

2. Type PLOT on the command line

3. Set Shade Plot to "As Displayed" or "Legacy Wireframe". Press "Apply to layout" and "Cancel"

4. Save the drawing.

Now, try to plot the drawing again.

Not entirely sure how (or why) this was changed but setting to "As Displayed" appears to have solved the problem.

Thanks very much Smiley Very Happy

I use the 'Publish to PDF/DWF/DWFx' command.

When you get to the final dialog, there is a selection for where you want the output to go.

Publish 2.JPG

Just select the 'Plotter named in dwg setup' and ACADE will go through and push the output to said printer.

Word of warning, If you have an old printer set in the dwg default, ACADE will send the print even if the printer is not available with no warnings. Same thing if there is no printer set up.

The drop down doesn't list the printers, however it does have an entry that tells ACADE to print the dwgs using the printer that is set up in each individual dwg's page setup.

That entry is the "Plotter named in page setup" which is what I was talking about. The screenshot I used however was just to highlight the drop down box you need to change. It is showing the default selection which just happens to be PDF.

Be very aware (as previously noted) that the ACADE will not give any warnings if the page setup is pointing to a non existing printer or is missing altogether, you will just not get any prints for those dwgs.

In that case, double check that the print setup for that dwg is pointing to the correct printer and that all the settings are correct as well. Make sure any changes are applied to the layout so that any batch printing can find them if required.

As a work around while you are working on the problem, print the project to a multi page PDF and then print the PDF.

Using AC24. When using Batch Plot from the application button, it usually takes 2 attempts to get all the sheets to plot. For some reason, it leaves one out the first time. No pattern as to which one. Using AutoCAD PDF (High Quality Print).pc3, which is set up for each sheet. Just a little frustrating. Using new Alienware CPU.
