Hello,

I'm looking for a downloadable template file that contains the NCS v6 layering convention (particularly the Electrical or "E" layers). Any help is greatly appreciated...

Thank you,

Matthew Prichard

I've tried myself to locate some of that information but to no avail.  You might have to do what I did in setting up most of it.

Hi there,

Not sure what that template has going on but you can always make your own.  Doug has generously shared his twelve steps to a smart title block / template and provided a little walk through on creating it.  Worth the time to take a look.

I should say that if you are going to make your own, that is a great time to add the common things you typically use.  So while in the creative process, load all of the wire types and colors/awg, add line types, add layers, load text styles, dimension style and scale, which is to say load everything you would have to pause and load into one of your typical drawings, load the template with all the goodies you use.

Good luck

Currently, ACADE does not conform to the National Cadd Standard, as far as I'm aware. This is mainly due to how ACADE manages its layers...the naming conventions won't match at all.

ACADE can be made to work within the NCS, I suppose, but you would have to rename all of the layers to conform. That can be done, and it isn't too hard, but there could be lots more. I'm not familiar with the NCS...it would come down to what things you have to keep in compliance. Layers...lineweights...fonts...linetypes...you find yourself adjusting properties on every layer.

So unless you get extremely lucky, and manage to connect with someone who has been in your situation before, it seems like you are in for a pretty hefty amount of set-up, test-drive, fix it.

Hope this helps,
Jim
