Insert Disc Error while adding Manufacturer Libraries in AutoCAD Electrical 2017

Our company has AutoCAD Electrical 2017 with network licenses. The copy on my machine was installed by our local IT. While installing they only installed the Allen Bradley and ABB footprint libraries.

I would like to add libraries from other manufacturers.

While trying to install the libraries, I get an error asking me to "Insert the disc".

I got the installation files for this product from IT on a laptop HDD in a USB case.

This connects to the PC as a local disk and I cannot "point" to it during the update.

I have seen other questions answered about using "Removable Disks" but that does not apply here.

Is there a way I can edit the setup.ini file, like in the USB instances, to point to the local hard drive location or is there other options.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there,

How are you trying to do the install?  Mine was installed locally.  I believe the additional mfg. are installed just in compressed file(s).  I go the Win control panel > add/remove/modify programs > right click the application > select add / remove features > check box for mfg. you want.  Install, done.  Not sure that will work for you app but you can give it a try ...

That is the same way I am trying to add the manufacturers. Once I click
"Update" the utility asks for the disk.
The Manufacturer libraries are not copied over locally until you install
them. They are stored in *.cab files in the original software.
I have access to them on the removal HDD but I cannot select it during the
update process.

That sounds like a bummer, have not had to deal with that myself.  Any chance you can copy the files to you C: drive or onto a CD?

I did not see the same thing for 2017 but this note for 2016 may/may not help.

This situation has been resolved. 

Since, the install was performed from a HDD in a USB adapter the PC treated this as a local drive.

The drive was assigned letter "E:".

When I plugged it into my PC this time to perform the update, the drive was assigned letter "F:", because I had a USB DVD Burner plugged in and it already had letter "E:" assigned to it.

I checked the registry entries for the Installers for the Autodesk products, and they all had a "SourceList\LastUsedSource" of "E:".

(e.g.  n;1;E:\AutoCAD_Electrical_2017_English_Win_64bit_dlm\x64\AcadeContent\) 

I simply unplugged the USB DVD burner I had installed and changed the drive letter of the HDD to E:. 

This made the "LastUsedSource" registry key match the actual location of the installer, and so the update worked perfectly.

I hope this explanation helps others who might run into the same problem in the future. Thanks
