how edit created component of block

Hi,

I created a component block, but by mistake, I assigned the terminal to a different layer. I want to change the component's layer from "wire" to "0." I tried editing the block, deleting the components, creatted new components, and saving the block, but nothing changes in the drawing. How can I change the layer of the block component? I don't want create same new block. I also made a video to show the issue.

Run the swap/update block with the updated option after editing a block that's already inserted in your project.

Hello.

I have also had problems modifying already created blocks, the same as you.

What I have done a while ago is:

  • Open a project from 0 without that block inserted previously, or delete and purge that block so that it does not appear as part of that sheet from which you will make the modification.
  • Open symbol builder and in the Name part from "browse.." look for your component to modify. Select and edit (OK).
  • Once edited, in the symbol builder tab click on "done", save as if it were new and click "yes" when asked if it should replace the previous one.

Kind regards,

Pablo

@rhesusminus If I want to change or update a block using "Swap Blocks," I need to create a new block with only the minor changes I want. Then I can replace the entire block with the new version. Am I correct understand?

@pgarciadlc Your version works, but this approach is more like a last resort. There should be a more logical solution, as otherwise the 'Edit Block' function doesn’t serve its purpose.

Yes. That is exactly how it works, and this is just how AutoCAD works.
