All of a sudden the menu/ribbon bars in my AutoCAD Electrical 2017 disappeared and I can't get them back.

How do I get them back?

Aggghhhhhh!!!

Thanks in advance for your help.

First, try resetting to default. For ACADE 2017, you should see this as a listing under your Windows Start icon.

If that doesn't work, back up your customization and go for a repair (via install/uninstall programs). Last thing to try would be an actual reinstall.

Hope this helps,
Jim

Hi there,

Jim is right, that should set everything back to 'out of the box'.  You might try just typing MENU and then RIBBON on the command line, make sure each one has a Value set = 1.  Just a thought.

Good luck

Before I was able to try any of your responses I got everything back by going to Tools/Palettes and clicking on the "Ribbon" option.

One other thing that had disappeared that I did not originally notice were gone was the tabs that show which drawings were open.

  • Got the drawing tabs back by typing in "Filetab" on the command line.

But WHY do these things just disappear on their own?  I thought software always worked the same way every time.  There isn't anything I can point to that I did to make them go away.

Thanks for the responses.

OK, so system variables are getting changed. That's odd but not unprecedented. Try this for a workaround:

Down in the bottom right hand side of the ACADE window there's a bunch of icons. Find the one that looks like a gear/cog. This is the Workspaces button.

Get everything set up the way you want. I mean, right down to where you attach the PROPERTIES, PROJECT MANAGER, or any other ribbons/toolbars/palettes. Once it's good to go, go to Workspaces and select 'Save Current As....'

Doing this *ought* to stop most of, if not all, the weirdness you describe.
