filenames are renamed/changed from uppercase to lower case after updating??

I am having an issue that happens when I update a block that I have inserted on all of my drawings. It is an ACADE block with standard attributes. When I update the desc fields, and it runs the update to all the other instances on each drawing of the project, it changes the filename from upper case letters, to lower case letters. I am able to watch this happen in windows explorer as it goes through all of my drawings. Is there a way to fix this (or prevent this from happening)?

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe this was a bug in an older version of AutoCAD Electrical. What version are you running?

AutoCAD Electrical 2020, and it also happens with 2019.

Just did a quick test, and I'm not able to reproduce this in 2020.

- Do you have your files on a server? If so, can you try the same with the files locally?
- Are you implementing XREF in some way with your drawings?

I tried with a local copy of the project and the results were the same. It only happens when it runs through all of the drawings, and updates the DESC1 field of a block that is on all of the drawings.

I have attached the block that is being updated.

I'm still not ale to replicate this.
How are you using that block? Do they all have the same TAG?
I tried to call them all S1 on multiple pages, changed DESC1 on of them, and it asked to update the other drawings as well.
Filenames stays in the same case they were.

Yes, I am using all of the standard attributes. The block has the same tag, so that every time that I change the description, it goes to every instance of the block throughout the drawing. Not sure why, but evfery time it changes my filenames to lower case.

I thought I read somewhere about a 2019 update that is needed to fix XREF's from doing this (which is probably why Trond was asking), maybe that update touches filenames if you don't have it?  I'm not sure how, way above my head just sounds similar.

You're stuck with it until they fix it and it seems that there is a lot of places in their code that have this issue:

@mlaterradeHPV27 have you tried to switch to Flip DWG Name to Upper Case and then do the update to see if that will switch your file names back to upper case?

That's funny. Is say's we can't fix the issues right now so we'll give you the option to manually waste your time changing the case on all of the files that the program has changed on some of your files.

Answer to your question is I like my extensions lower case.

I am able to replicate this issue in 2019. Was there a fix or is it an open issue?

AutoCAD update 2019.0.2 will be solve this issue. Download and install it.
