EXPAND BALLOON FUNCTIONALITY

Hello everyone,

Can I expand the functionality of balloons? When I go to edit the balloon block I see the attribute is "B_ITEM." Could I create a symbol similar to this that contains "B_TAG1." For Plan layout drawings that I'm trying to connect to my schematics?

Currently I'm trying to figure out how to do this with an mleader. I'm starting to think I wont be able to get the leader to pull the information from my block.

Thanks for any help!

Have you had a look at putting more attributes into the attribute template for the balloons?
https://help.autodesk.com/view/ACAD_E/2020/ENU/index.html?guid=GUID-0430DDA0-002E-49E5-BBEA-A8D0C020...
I don't know if you can get the tag into there, but I'd try P_TAG1 and/or P_TAGSTRIP

It's worth a try. And, you won't be able to get AcadE to understand the mleader object. You must use the balloon functionality on AcadE, or program your own using mleader.

Thanks for the response, I've created the file. But it doesn't seem to be populating with the additional attributes I added to it. How do I specify which template to use?

I got the same result...
Attributes was added, but no data was written to them...

My educated guess then, is that it's not possible. That the attributes you add, are for internal use in your company only, like remarks etc.

Sorry, what I meant was the additional attributes that I added did not even populate in the list. How did you get them to show up in the list?

I've created the file containing my additional attributes.

saved it in the panel folder, and made sure that the "attribute template insert" was enabled under my panel configuration. but I only get the b_item attribute when I try the attedit.

Just check that the file is named correctly, and that it contains attributes just like the other attribute template files.
Also, make sure that the project is set up to search that folder in the "Panel Library Folders".

Sorry for the delay, no I'm not ready to accept this as a solution. I do believe that @rhesusminus has provided me with the answer, I Just havent gotten it to insert as a block correctly. When I have that file merge, it inserts as just attributes.

Can you share your version of the file containing the attributes?

I opened your file, removed everything unnecessary and purged it.

Then. I copied it to my panel_mm folder (I use metric untis).

So, when I insert a balloon, all attributes gets imported:

2019-06-04_21-52-19.png

Also, it says on the command line that it has merged the attributes:

Command:

Setup/<select component for balloon>:
Specify leader start or balloon insert point:
[Enter]=balloon only, no leader
To point:

 Merged attribute template: C:\Users\Public\Documents\Autodesk\Acade 2020\Libs\panel_mm\wd_ptag_addattr_itemballoon.dwg

Setup/<select component for balloon>:

Command:

I've attached your file again here.

Can you try this version?

Yes, this worked thanks! By worked I mean it inserts as a block now. but as you stated it does not pull additional block data with it.
