Edit component will not substitute in a new part.

I'm using AE2017, I'm having an issue.

When I substitute in a new part from the catalog selection and click OK, the original part is re-populated.   The Pin list pop-up window doesn't occur.

  1. I've cycled my computer.   This did not work.
  2. I turned off AutoCAD Electric.  From an earlier post (CAN'T CHANGE CATALOG ASSIGNMENT WIHT INSERT/EDIT COMPONENT (AEEDITCOMPONENT)) in 2017 of the same issue, I did the following.  However, the earlier post didn't have a resolution.   The video in the earlier post is exactly the same issue.
    1. I deleted C:\Users\<User name>\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\AutoCAD Electrical 2018\R22.0\enu\Support\User\name.mdb.
    2. Restarted AE2017.
    3. This did not work.
  3. This occurs on a few components but not all components of the same page.

  4. I had a co-worker make the required change and it worked for him.   After he made the change, my system still had the same issue.

  • use command AEREBUILDDB to rebuild the database in full.
  • load one of the demo projects drawings.
  • reset acade to default settings

AEREBUILDDB did not work.

Not sure how to 'reset' acade to default settings from the Demo project?

Note - before resetting to default, save your current settings in case you want to revert it to current settings.

Can you clarify your first post?

First, are you trying to change a symbol to a different symbol, or are you trying to change a catalog number on a symbol?

What kind of symbol are you inserting? The pin list pop up doesn't always appear, it depends on the symbol.

Can you post a copy of the drawing with the problem symbols in it?

First, are you trying to change a symbol to a different symbol, or are you trying to change a catalog number on a symbol?   Change the catalog number of the symbol.

What kind of symbol are you inserting? The pin list pop up doesn't always appear, it depends on the symbol.  One is a custom block, the other is AutoCAD Block.

Can you post a copy of the drawing with the problem symbols in it?    the drawing is attached.   the two items in question are VFD311 & OL312.

Sorry, I haven't much time to look at this until today.

I had no problems reassigning catalog information to either of the symbols in your drawing. Your VFD symbol is a custom family, so I had to create one to accommodate that, and still had no problems changing the catalog data.

Can you tell us how, specifically, you're trying to change the catalog number? Which tool or command are you using, and how are you using it?

As for the pin list, making edits there was also behaving normally for me. Remember that when using the Edit Component tool, this is done directly in the dialog box, on the right hand side in the section labeled 'Pins'. When changing the catalog number on a part, there is no separate dialog for the pin list.

Glad to hear that it is fixed by resetting acade to default settings.
