Default Environment file location

i am beginning to explore a network deployment of AutoCAD Electrical and moving files to a network location. I have followed tutorials on moving the Aedata, libs and support files from my hard drive to a network location, i have created a separate profile and changed support file search paths to the network. you can see that the location is set to the one drive. i have changed it at the bottom of this current settings dialog and browsed to the environment file saved on the network saved it and returned to the project manager and selected Config Catalog Database and those paths are pointed to my hard drive. there is part of my environment file you can see i have coded it to look on to the network for the catalog database, but when you look at the current settings after setting the environment file its not looking at the network its still looking at my hard drive but at least not the one drive. what am i missing here?

i see my mistake not only does autocad look for paths under C:\Users\name\OneDrive - -\Documents\Acade 2024\AeData_old\en-US it also looks C:\Users\naem\Documents\Acade 2024\AeData_old and i did not rename the second AeData to _old and by default it was looking there and found the database there before it went to the network location. i restarted cad and it gave me warnings it could not find the env file then. reset my env file to the network location and changed my profile to the custom one and would you know its working.

That’s correct.  I teach my clients to rename the AeData folder on their computer to AeData_local.  I wrote a request on the idea station about this some years ago.  I asked for the software to search first for the existence of ab AeData folder at the network path.  If found, use it.  If not found, use the AeData folder on the local computer where AutoCAD Electrical is installed.  But we shouldn’t have to rename the local AeData.  As is, if the software doesn’t find the network path, it deletes the path from the Support Files Search Path.  Please vote for my idea at this link: https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/autocad-electrical-ideas/improvement-for-networking-data/idi-p/564855...

I would settle for them not looking at the One Drive folder. I am used to looking in the default location where AutoCAD installs, but not when One Drive is active AutoCAD wants to look there, if you change that file name under One Drive, then it looks at the default, but make sure you change the default folder as well. Then it will look at the Network path! I will say its been enjoyable and completely frustrating learning the in's and outs of a network deployment, when things work it feels like an accomplishment.
