Date Attribute in Title Block

The CreateDate in my title block has always been broken and I just "manually" adjust the date to when I create my drawing.. well I've had enough after all these years of it being broken and I want it to work properly!

I feel like I have tried EVERYTHING yet NOTHING seems to fix it. The field just shows --- unless I select Date in the field.

ONLY Date works in the field prompt. But I don't want to have the date selected because then it just retains when that template was created & I still have to manually correct "todays" date. CreateDate & SaveDate have never worked.

I have attached what the attribute field looks like while in block editor. If someone could please help me finally fix this it would be a HUGE relief!

Your screenshot is from an exploded block or from inside the block editor, can you edit it from outside the block editor?

Are you using UPDATEFIELD to try to get it to update?
or REGENALL?

Is this a titleblock present in your DWG file, or template, or is it just an XREF?
Is this a block inside a block?
Any reason you cannot share it here?

I just realized I'm a fool & have lots on my plate!

The date works perfectly fine.. once you save the drawing

I appreciate the reply to my terrible question that wasn't even an issue!
