Custom Connector Symbol

How can we create our own Custom Connector Symbol and still use the "Connector Utilities"? I like the options the Utility has to offer; but we do not like the symbol that is default connector.

I can imagine there must be a way to change this since there are ways to change the Cable symbols and Source/Destination symbols; but I cannot even find a command line used to call the connector.

I realize the utility builds a component on the fly, so even looking for the block to modify is useless.

Can anyone help? We cannot be the only company that wants to use a different symbol, then the one offered by default.

Thanks.

Anyone?

Is this even possible?

Someone from Autodesk may be able to shed a better light on this, but until
they do, I will give my best answer. The connectors are built using the
same method as the Parametric PLC builder. It is actually a variation of
the Parametric PLC code. The blocks that make up the I/O points can be
edited but the actual outline of the PLC is dynamically built by AcadE to
match the scale of the blocks. I think the connector builder works the same
way.

How I would do it is:
1) find the individual blocks that make the symbol now.
2) copy and save those files.
3) modify the files so that when combined by the program it will present the connector the way you want it (or as closely as possible).
4) pray that Autodesk will provide a method to custom build them like they do for PLC symbols.

Good luck.

Thanks everyone I have been trying to look for the blocks; but they appear to be created on the fly, with a unique name. I have even checked the library against the first 4 digits and found nothing that looks like the connector.

I have even created two connectors and the only part that is the same is "HCN1_1PJ_..."

Does anyone know what the standard block name is called?

Thanks.

Try the following:

HCN1_11J through HCN2PJ1

There are 38 symbols.

The custom connectors are built using symbols that follow the naming
convention HCN* or VCN*. Although, standard connectors are part of this
library set also. If you start a blank drawing and build a connector you can
see which blocks were used by using the PURGE command and looking at the
list of blocks. These symbols mostly are just the needed attributes for the
connector while the graphics are drawn based on the selections from the
dialog and are not customizable outside of that.

I have changed the symbols which Electrical uses to build a parametric connector. It has some disadvantages: commands such as swap pins, add pins, stretch connector,.. won't work anymore.
