Catalog Lookup Slow When Using SQL

We migrated our default_cat catalog database to Microsoft SQLServer and the SQL database sits on a local server here in our local office (no VPN).  Everything is working fine.  But when you click on Catalog Lookup on a component, like on a Panel Layout, the Catalog Browser takes an average of 25 seconds to open!  See attached picture.  This is a known issue because there is a "work around" in this. blog https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad-electrical/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarti...

Is there a better fix for this problem. It looks like the problem has been around for years.

The work around is not an acceptable, permanent solution.  The 25 seconds to open the catalog browser in not acceptable when you using this several times a day.

We were thinking of trying Microsoft Azure (cloud based sql) to see if that is any different.  Has anyone used Azure.  Does it work.

I am sorry that I cannot help you here. I have no experience with the SQL database.
