Catalog Filtering

Is it me or does anyone else have to clear catalog filtering everytime they add a component?

It is random every time - sometimes a * in the catalog, sometimes it's the manufacturers name, sometimes even there are filters in two columns!!

It's very annoying having to clear this everytime.....

Horray, at least i'm not the only one finding this annoying.....Smiley Frustrated

I'm sure there is a reason for this, just that I haven't found it yet.

I think it might be a byproduct of the new catalog database lookup. Personally, I preferred the old one where each of the fields could be sorted to narrow down what you're looking for.

Hi Dbrblg,

If you wat to change the deafult (or simply have nothing in it when you first Search)

go to  _LISTBOX_DEF and edit the columns to change the intial Search.

( you will need to do this in MS Access).

I hope this helps,

I tried this but could not get it to work.

In my _LISTBOX_DEF table I have all the table names.  Initially I had nothing in any of the columns (other than table name!!), I then has * in CATALOG only, then * in all the relevant columns which relate to the different tables but in all cases the MANUFACTURER is defaulted to AB and the TYPE of Safety.

Are there any defaults stored elsewhere?

Ah I see yeah don't use the Astrik (*)

Leave it blank, otherwise it will use the last search. (which seems to deafult to the original Filter)

Make sure you have  "Filter By WBLKNAME..." Flagged

See the Attached Photos.

I hope this helps,

I tried it without * but I still get the same.  This is either a bug or this information is stored somewhere else......

Hmm well its filtering by the wrong Wblkname.

Your entery was for MI but the block is filtering by MI1_1b.

Its still possible that pulling the filters from a different copy of the Default_Cat.mdb.

Do you have multiple versions of ACADE installed? (or file structures from the older verisons that have a copy of Default_Cat.mdb)

My best guess is that the scratch library is holding the information for the temporary filter (MI1_1b).

You could try deleteing the Scratch Database (in the users / Roaming Directory) and let it recreate it.

You could also check your entry on the WBLKNAME field for your part to see why its looking for a different filter name.

I hope this helps,

This is an odd one.......

I only have one default_cat available and I've double checked in the project settings it is looking at this file.

I don't have a WBLKNAME field in the part, so its not that....

I've deleted the scratch database and let it re-create it when ACADE is opened.

Now, all symbols are doing this to some degree or another..... Some symbols filter by manufacturer and type others by manufacturer, type and description Smiley Surprised
