did we do something wrong? upgrading to ACADE 2021? I went to insert a siemens relay and the choices of relays that are in the catalog data base are the 3RH1 product line which are obsolete, replaced with 3RH2 which there are NONE in the data base?

I think this may help you.  There was a database update for Siemens some time ago.

If you haven't downloaded it you may want to check out this link: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad-electrical/troubleshooting/caas/downloads/content/aut...

Hope this helps!

That content is already part of 2021, that you have installed. So you are unfortunately stuck with putting the components you use into the database yourself.

Fortunately, it really easy!

the model line for Siemens 3RH11 seems to have been discontinued since 2019, we uninstalled all autodesk software and re-installed in February 2021, so i am wondering how obsolete components were still in the 2021 data base that was downloaded?

If the mfg catalog doesn't contain the parts you require, then as Trond mentioned, you can enter the parts data yourself.  Since the catalogs supplied are rarely updated or a courtesy update is made, most manage our own catalog databases... From recent memory I believe only Eaton and Siemens have had updates in the last few years...

Hope this helps!

Autodesk leaves catalog management to us. Any updates that have come out since the catalog was first made, were all released by the manufacturers themselves - Autodesk won't touch the catalogs for some reason. And as Omar noted, only Eaton and Siemens have provided voluntary updates..

None of us should ever consider the catalogs to be complete. Every manufacturer in the ACADE catalog includes obsolete parts, even whole product lines. There are whole classes of components that didn't exist back when the catalog was first made. To be truthful, if we wanted Autodesk to maintain an up-to-date catalog database, it would probably push the cost of the software far beyond reason.

that would be complete product line not just one or two special parts 😞

It would still be a lot of copy/paste, as many components share the same symbology.
