dear all
why catalog browser are sooooo weak specially on select items ( no filter , no update with new items that product by famous company like ( siemens , schneider ,ABB )
it should be the most unique facilitate search for items can be filter update library this big leakage on Autocad electrical 2021.
also most active smart algorithm on data search sys which understand to make you so close to your selection
so our demand to auto desk development committee to fixed this issue and make it update automatically referring to company products with active selection function ( filter function on product ) 😉😉
best wish to all
regards.

I'll say this - the catalog will only ever be updated if the manufacturer decides to update and provide that information, which the manufactures for the most part have no interest in doing for AutoCAD Electrical. There is absolutely no way for Autodesk to do this for them either. Autodesk doesn't and most likely will never provide a central place for manufacturers to dump their information into that a user will be able to update their own catalog from. If you want that you'll have to use something like EPLAN (and even most times the information provided there isn't 100% accurate either). This is the way it's been for a very long time and it's clear that there is no interest in expanding this either. All Autodesk does it give us the tools to create entries, and that's all we will ever get. I'll admit, most of the information provided with the default installation is pretty outdated or the products have been superseded by newer products, all of which needs updated.

And, we are just AutoCAD Electrical USERS here. We cannot take requests on changes you want.
We have a forum for AcadE suggestions, but I don't think anyone from Autodesk is in there a lot: https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/autocad-electrical-ideas/idb-p/37
So, you want the filters to reappear in the catalog browser, just like they were until AutoCAD Electrical 2015? Can't you search for what you need? Are you getting too many hits?
How about tidying up the database. I'm pretty sure you don't need 250000 items in the motor starter table... How about removing the ones you will neve use for starters?

yes i'm with you about that but when finish your plan at the end you need to give to manufacture company that aggregation panel vendor list this list are facilitate to collect items and quote it , also should supported from ( grand product company like siemens , ABB , Schneider ) provide external program can be connect with autocad ele , like in dialux app , they didn't add all lighting items in them application because lighting items every second have new product ,so lighting company provide them with application can plugin dialux app so any update on product will modified by company that support them app as you know electrical items are very big or closely to infinite .
so hope autodesk development committee consider this issue or some one bring that massage to them .
thanks all for that

Like Trond said, this is a forum to assist people in understanding what AutoCAD Electrical can already do. Your type of request should be posted to the Idea Station.
That said, many use the preloaded part numbers as more of a reference for syntax, while adding their preferred parts to the database. Like Trond also mentioned, it is a good idea to delete the parts you don't think you will ever use, to keep the database manageable. You might also consider the method I show on my web site. Make a backup copy of the master database and assign it as a Secondary Catalog. Next, enter only your preferred parts into the master database. I use to wonder why the catalog never got updated and then I decided to update it myself. After opening it in Access I saw how many parts are already in it and realized that continuous addition of parts that aren't directly related with the company where each individual works will just make it bloated and reduce the ability of filters to work well.
I think a better solution would be to have a built-in utility program that imports a large group of items into the catalog from a CSV file into the appropriate tables, etc.

You can keep the catalog database from Autodesk as a secondary lookup catalog and have a trimmed down default_cat.mdb with your preferred parts. Just copy the default_cat.mdb file and name the copy complete_cat.mdb. Go back to the default_cat.mdb and delete all but your preferred parts. Keep all formatting and don’t delete any tables or fields.
In Project Properties, set up the secondary catalog lookup. I show how to do this on the Tips/Tricks page at: http://ecadconsultant.com/tips.html#Preferred_Parts
