Bill of materials on several sheets

Hello.

I would like to be able to make an automatic bill of materials that spans multiple sheets.

I have configured the "bill of materials" report but I cannot find an option that allows me to separate the list to a certain limit (see, for example, the image).

The most I have achieved is to manually separate the list. So I have the following doubt:

• To what extent can this be handled automatically? It is possible that Autocad creates the sheets automatically and inserts the list into each one up to a certain point (not by the number of rows, which is, for example, a maximum height of the table)?

Although the list is currently managed by one line per tag, the projection is for it to be a number of lines not determined by each tag; That is, wanting to separate the list every certain number of rows will not always be able to solve what I require.

Hi Pablo,

Yes, There is option to limit the number rows and table section per drawing and automatically keep placing the rest of report on next drawings.

First you specify how many rows you want per section, (20 in the example below)
Then you specify how many sections per one drawings (1 in the example below)

This will place a table of 20 rows on each drawing and continue placing till the full report is complete.

Once it finishes placing 20 rows on first drawing, it will ask for the next drawing to place the next 20 rows and you will have the option of selecting the new drawing from existing project or create a new drawing.

You only have to do that once though, After you placed the report one time on multiple pages, AutoCAD Electrical will remember that and automatically update the report next time (unless you need to add more pages if you report gets longer)

 

You have also the option of adding more than one section per drawing.

Thanks, your answer helps me how to perform automatic list splitting; however, I would like to know if there is a way to separate the lists without the number of rows being the reference for this.

In practice, it is not possible for me to determine a number of rows per section that is not too small or too large, since each tag can have more than one material.

Is there a way to indicate a maximum table height per section?

Hi @pgarciadlc 

In my experience, I haven't had a problem with table height based on rows because it is simply calculated (Row Height x Number of Rows). Since the number of rows are fixed, table height should be fixed as well.

There is no issue when you have multiple tags per components because even tough they are shown as one cell, each new line of text is counted as a row.

The only problem you will run into is if the width is too small for the cell, The height of that cell will extend to accommodate all the text.

If you still think this is an issue for you, can you attach a couple of drawings where you are getting different table heights for the same amount of rows.

I was misinterpreting the number of rows, I understood it as "number of rows of materials". By testing I was able to verify that this is not the case.

I only have the doubt if for the same tag it is possible to remove the line that forms between them (see image).

Hi @pgarciadlc 

I am not sure if that is possible with the "Display in "BY TAG" Format" option.

You can try some the other options that look a little different and groups the TAGs under one cell.

When I put my BOM on my layout sheets, I will typically limit the row count to fifty. I have found that this is legible and does not consume too many pages.
