3 position selector w/momentary switch

Not applicable

I have a 3 position switch.  1 of which is a momentary switch.  How do I show something like this on a print?  What's the proper convention to show this?

Hi there,

I would be inclined to use your favorite search engine on the web and use the search criteria something like,  schematic symbol selector switch spring return ,  you will probably find a selection to choose from.

Good luck

and by the way, I use the JIC125 symbol set, spring return selector switches are part of that library..

Good luck

Traderjoe,

See the attached image, this is how we do it here.

The top switch (SS3145) is a normal 2-position selector switch. The one below (SS3149) that is a 3-position switch, momentary spring-to-center. Since the center is not an actual function, it's not depicted in the drawing. However, the arrows in the symbol, along with the switch state notation (XOO & OOX), should make it clear what the switch is.

There is also this post on momentary switches with a 'neutral' position.

Are you using a different type of switch? Say, momentary on the left or right side? As TRLitsey said, symbols for such switches exist in the JIC library (NFPA also). Use whichever is appropriate, and edit the switch states in the Edit Component dialog to display them in the schematic.

Hope this helps,

Jim
