Feature Line Trim + XREF Line Work?

I really wish that Civil 3D supported basic modify Commands, like being able to TRIM a Feature Line using a Polyline, etc in an XREF.

It is really frustrating to have to first draw a line, NCOPY, etc. before performing such a fundamental, repeated task.
