Importing KMZ files into AutoCAD Civil 3D 2013

Hello,

Can I import KMZ files into AutoCAD Civil 3D R.2013, or do I need to purchase an add-on package that will make it work?  Does it work with just AutoCAD Map 3D?

If not, how do you import KMZ files into AutoCAd Civil 3D?

Thx, Murph: the FDO2FDO stand-alone tool allows a brilliant bidirectional conversion SDF <=> GIS.

As far as you know, does a SDF free viewer exist?  I've googled half an hour, without success.

Not that I'm aware of, I know a lot  of people on the Open Source sites have been wanting one but so far nothing out there that I know of.

Maybe this is why?

  It comes with Autodesk MapGuide

Well done, Tim, but it works only under the 2 following conditions:

1. as noticed by Murph, you gotta install this small free plugin:
   http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=2525719&linkID=9242099
   
   
2. SDFdraw supports the SDF/SIF pair created by the _MAP2SDF command, while FDO2FDO generates an incompatible SDF3 version (single file)

I attached a little example of what I'm talkin' about...

Hi, antoniovinci.

Imported KMZ file into Qgis.

Coordinate system - WGS84.

KMZ file has Latitude\Longitude degrees format.

I view point's coordinate in Latitude\Longitude degrees format in coordinate bar into Qgis.

After Export DXF instead of, for example, 26°47'S I have 26.7833 (meter).

What did I wrong?

Nothing, sir: 26°47' is the DDMMSS format of the decimal 26.783333333333335 lat/long number.

Upon exporting to DXF, you surely forgot to declare the output CRS, e.g. an UTM one.
