Startup problem seems to hang on "Loading AeciRibbonUiApi..."

We seem to have a problem similar to the tool tip disappearing problem.  When we launch C3d it hangs on:

"Loading AeciRibbonUiApi..."

If we hit the space bar or return, it repeats the last command (in this case toolspace) and then returns to the command prompt.  We tried unloading Raster and the problem goes away however this doesn't seem to be the best solution.

Loaded SP1 and then the Ribbon hotfix, problem is still there.  We also stripped out all of our customizations and the problem is still there.

Played around a bit more and found if I select the Raster ribbon tab and exit C3d, when I relaunch (which it will then start on the Raster Tab) the problem doesn't occur.......

Any ideas for a solution.

BTW, this is running on a Win7, 64bit OS with 64bit program versions.

Thanks

Have you done a Repair?

There are random known issues with AutoCAD Raster Design interfering with the UI of Civil 3D that are scheduled for a fix. At this point, you have the workarounds - either uninstall raster design or leave the ribbon on the raster ribbon when you close the program.

Not much of a solution.  FYI, we don't have this issue with 2011.

Thanks

Jason,

I was wondering if you folks have come up with any solution to this problem?

Or should we continue with the workaround?

I am running AutoCAD Civil 3D 2012 SP1 on my desktop computer (with the Civil 3D workspace, Raster Tools included in ribbon) and when the command line seems hung up on Loading AeciRibbonUiApi, I click inside of the graphics area and the program immediately comes back.

I did some research in our internal databases, and was not able to find information regarding if/when this issue will be fixed. For me, this has never been a real "issue", since it goes away after my first click inside of the graphics area...although maybe other users are experiencing the issue more severely?

So sad - problem (and workaround) still necessary two years later with C3D 2014 (SP 2).

I have this as well.

For me, it happens when STARTUP = 1

As far as I can tell, you can escape right out of it with no ill effects.

can resolve the problemo as following:

1. Control Panel >> Internert Options >> Advanced TAB >> Security Options

2. Uncheck server certificate revocation

3. Apply & Ok

Restart machine and Autocad will run

Sadder still, the person who comes in with a reasonable sounding workaround 2 years later for Version 2016 and the same bug, could not find his way to say which version of Windows he was running, rendering HIS fix pretty much useless.

I just love it when a good charity case is able to keep good records of its annual tribute and renewal dates.

I am seeing this on 2015 and 2017, is there still no fix?

We simply stopped installing Raster.  After paying the subscription for many years I think I have decided not to renew.  Pretty poor customer service on this one.

Well that is one way to fix it. 🙂

Right now we are deciding whether or not to include it. All I have read so far do not address the network IDS installation.

Jason Hickey- Do you even work at Autodesk any more.

What the heck is going on in there. This issue has been around for 5 years and you still haven't fixed it

I am so freakin' frustrated with Autodesk right now because the production on there systems has declined so much over the year. The working speed of a user has slowed to a crawl because of loading so much crap in the background into the system. If you had actual users on you stockholder list ,something maight get done about it. This has sat for indefinitely like this because your too f-in big nad don't actually work on tthe glitches that are already in the system. Loading a bunch of bloatware on top of an unfixed known issue is not going to make it go away.

GET YOUR ASSES IN GEAR AND DEAL WITH THESE ABSOLUTELY FRUSTRATING SITUATIONS>

Another one is the incredible poor memory management when dealing with a drawing with XREFS. Look into that too. IT CRIPPLES US THE POWER USERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

gsismanACAD,

Good comment if you are dealing with this specific issue.

I cannot recall how my instance got resolved - not confident it won't come back at whichever next version update anybody does. I am currently at version 2017 with ridiculously expensive $1000/year, annual upgrade for a single user/seat. Which I will be allowing to lapse at the end of this month.

Just checked loading speed again. With 64gb of RAM on an Intel i7 my system loads said bloatware, complete with real time life monitoring back at ACAD mothership - think privacy and intellectual property concerns,, in about a minute. Absurd if you just need to make a minor adjustment, or a plot/print out.

Just too geared to impressing department heads stock analysts, and shareholder reps of larger investment firms and corporations. Dazzle em with useless juvenile gizmos when you are unwilling to pay professional English speaking technical writers.

Then give the people a bulletin board for end users which was never intended to be supportive ---- just a venting forum.

They have the solution. They just don't have enough people who speak English anymore.

Software looks great in a narrow range of situations, mostly after the work has been done, trouble is it's impossible to use when they keep piling learning curves on top of one another.

Autodesk addressed the matter here, though not very well IMHO.

I came up with my own solution, adding a simple .mnl file to accompany the raster design AecCo.cuix file.  It's just a text file with a single line of lisp code as follows:

(princ)

Name it AecCo.mnl.  The name is important, as it must match up with the related .cuix file to get executed when the .cuix file loads.  Place the file in a trusted folder in your Autocad support file search path.

All it does is force an extra return after the ribbon menus load, returning the user to the command prompt.
