Land Desktop 2008 Crashing when trying to import points

When I select import points from the drop down menu, i get an error message. Then it takes me to the import options window where i hit the browse folder icon, then another error message and program crashes. Any ideas? do i need to reinstall?

the first error message after selecting import points says

error opening group record set

item not found in this collection

the second error after selecting the browse button in the import window says

Fatal Error unhandled c000000dh exception at 78145849h

This is the Civil 3D forum. You'll probably have more luck in the Land Desktop group.
