File size makes no sense

I have a drawing with 110 aerial tiles in it each tile is 3.5 MB and windows tells me the file is 250 KB. How is that possible?

Thank you

Joe, I think the acad drawing is just seeing the imabe boundary info, like what layer & color, not the whole image.  The boundary is a pointer to where the image is on the hard drive or server.

Images, if they are attached, are like XREF's. They are just referenced and do not contribute to the file size of the parent.
