Dear Friend,

I am not a fan of Pipes. But just by seeing your image I can say it already says why you have 2 data.

In the topic column of the 2D length it states that you have data for Center to Center and Edge to Edge.

Those data are shown in the report.

Thanks

Hello,

Just by looking at the image you post, it is showing 2 versions of 2d length one is center to center of pipes and the other is edge to edge of pipes. To answer why it is doubled, maybe it is just the way it is created in the report manager.

Cheers,

Jowenn

To get one of these data you need to edit the Pipes Only.xsl file which contains the contents of the report. Search this file on your computer and right click and select edit. Then in the edit window find where Center to Center and Edge to Edge data and delete one of them so that it won't appear on the report.

This is bit risky exercise. You need to have a copy of the Pipes Only.xsl before editing.

I don't want to modify the excel sheet I want to get only one quantity for Civil 3d , in other words make the changes in C3D.

Maybe you don't understand. What @Jeew-m is asking you to modify is an xsl file, not xls, the Excel format. He/she is not suggesting you modify your Excel file.

The file you want to edit, "Pipes Only.xsl", is found in the folder C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\C3D 2018\enu\Data\Reports\xsl.

Jeewana,

In that XSL file I see several instances of "<br>center-to-center</br>" and "<br>edge-to-edge</br>". Would you remove all instances or just one in particular?

Dave,

As I see it has two options and one option have another two options for each.

Major two options are 2D and 3D length.

The subs of each majors are metric and Imperial.

So depending on the situation we need to delete the required part.

Also I assume we should have entry for column name also.

However I need to emphasize that I am not good in editing these xsl since I am not knowing these computer languages. But when I see it , it gives me a clue what to edit. Also this might be trial and error process.

As stated you just need to locate the XSL file that in creating the report and under the meters 2D Length delete <br> edge to edge <br>, since you not dealing with feet I would not concern myself with the foot calculations.

Close Civil 3D.

Open the xsl file with Notepad.

Search for <br>edge-to-edge</br>

Delete the line from the file. This will eliminate the text from the column.

Continue searching for that string and deleting until there are no more. Save the file, being sure you don't let Notepad change it to a .txt.

Go back to the top of the file and now search for xsl:when test="$Pipe_Reports.Pipe_Length.type=

There are two lines shortly below the search line. They start with <xsl:value-of select="landUtils:FormatNumber Delete, or comment-out, the second of those two lines. This will eliminate the edge to edge distance.

Run the same search again and delete the same line until the search finds nothing. Save the file.

This process will eliminate the edge to edge from both 2d and 3d reports.

I have attached my version of Pipes Only.xsl. You will need to unzip and place in the proper folder, see above in this thread. Be sure you backup your existing file first.

Tim,

If you left "Pipes Only" as is, and added newly created "Pipes edge-to-edge" and "Pipes center-to-center" to Reports, would you be able to choose from the 3? I haven't done much with Reports, so I don't know how much "customizing" C3D will allow of them.

Dave, yes, you can edit the file:

C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\C3D 2018\enu\Data\ToolBox\ToolBoxCfg.xml.

Inside that file, find "Pipes"

Duplicate the line that starts with
tool name and xsl file to appropriate values. You can use any tool name you
want, it's just a label.

I found an error in one of the searches I posted, so I have formalized the procedure on my blog:
