If I create a surface in Civil 3D Metric and then open it in imperial, does that convert it to imperial units or do I need to scale it by a conversion factor?

J,
The limit on this Forum is 75MB, but you can use a link to either <<<Dropcanvas>>> or <<<Dropbox>>>. I'd like to test out that ADF using Microdem.

J,
Thanks. I'm downloading it right now. (Says it's going to take 1-2 hours.)

J,
I basically got this same message when I tried to open the ADF file in all of these:
Microdem
Irfanview
VTBuilder
MapWindow
QGIS
GeoViewer
I don't have Global Mapper any more, so I couldn't test with that. I'll try the Alfred Method. What Coordinate System is your data in?

J,
I just tried to create a Point Cloud with your ADF file. No go. Even though the drop-down list says "ESRI ADF" it wouldn't accept it. So at this point I'm not sure what to do.

J,
OK, part of the problem is that there are several files that need to be in the same folder as the big ADF. I went to the USGS site and downloaded one of those big ADF files. It's a really large area, so if you get the lower rez data you will have an easier time of it.

J,
I just created a surface using one of those monster (456MB) ADF files from USGS. I used Alfred's method. It took an hour to create the point cloud.

J,
Further attempts to open the ADF file in Microdem were futile, so I did a little searching, and found <<<This Page>>>.

Sorry, I didn't give you enough of the files. It sounds like you spent a lot of time on this.
I was able to make a point cloud also and although the point cloud says that there is a minimum elevation of over 1100m all the points come in at 0 and when I make a surface it only picks a few points from the millions to make the surface.
J,
I got same thing as Alfred. Worked good. Did you follow ALL of his video, including these settings:
POINTCLOUDDENSITY 100
POINTCLOUDLOD 10
POINTCLOUDPOINTMAX 25000000
POINTCLOUDPOINTMAXLEGACY 10000000

J,
"We aren't using any particular coordinate system. Wherever it ends up is OK."
But don't you want to use Bing Live Maps to check your area?

My pointcloud had 0 elevations because I created the drawing in a different file from the ADF files. It works now. The only thing is that the pointcloud says it has 116 million points and when I add those points to a surface it only grabs just under a million. Nevertheless, I think this is the solution. THANK YOU.
