CIVIL 3D FATAL ERROR

When I open my BASE file it immediately aborts giving me this message:

FATAL ERROR: Unhandled Access Violation Reading 0xffffffff Exception at c891f2d5h

-I went through these steps: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/AutoCA...

-The only thing that ALMOST worked was to insert the BASE into a blank drawing and save over the original BASE.

-Now when I try to open the drawings that are referencing the NEW BASE, they freeze for 10 minutes then display this message: INTERNAL ERROR: !saveres.cpp@196: eFilerError.

-I don't know what else to try.

Please Help.

     -Allen

This happened after changing the names of alignments which are used to make profiles & corridors.

Do you think that changing the alignment names is the culprit?

Have you tried to use the recover command on the drawing?

I have also heard that in some cases running the recover command has better luck in autocad instead of civil 3d.

Thanks,
Dave

Dave,

I tried the recover command in Civil 3d:

       ERRORS FOUND: 57

       ERRORS FIXED: 57

       OBJECTS ERASED: 0

I tried recover in Autocad:

        ERRORS FOUND: 1

       ERRORS FIXED: 1

       OBJECTS ERASED: 0

I CAN open it in Autocad but It still crashes when I open it in Civil 3d.

Dave,

I had to restore a previous version of the alignment base, then change the alignment names back to the original ones.

Once i did that everything worked again. I guess Civil 3d didn't like me changing the names.

adamron,

I am glad that you figured something out. It is always discouraging when something you spend a lot of time on can no longer be accessed.

Thanks,
Dave
