Turn off Dynamic Input.  You can do this by setting DYNMODE to 0 or a negative number.  Setting it to 0 clears all of the Dynamic Input options.  Setting it to a negative number disabled DYNMODE, but "remembers" the previous settings, which allows the Dynamic Input Status Bar button to toggle Dynamic Input on and off, with your previous settings restored when toggling it on.

You can also adjust the settings for Dynamic Input by using the DSETTINGS command.  In the Drafting Settings dialog, select the Dynamic Input tab.  Disable the Enable Pointer Input, Enable Dimension Input where possible and Show command prompting and command input near the crosshairs toggles to completely turn off Dynamic Input.

B.T.W. how and why does certain settings get altered like that, it was set at (3) ?

Also, I have another drawing that has a black back round and all of the lines are white

NOW all of the sudden when I draw a line I cannot see it (it must be Black) why?

thank you
