Xref objects not displaying

I am having a weird issue.  We recently upgraded to ACAD Arch 2018 and when we Xref in an old project (done with ACAD 2016) there are some objects that for some reason are not displaying.

Both projects were created with the same template so before you start talking about display reps being different or layers being turned off or object enablers... I've explored all that already and those are not the issue.  It seems to affect only AEC objects and Mass elements.  We had the issue with the AEC objects taking on the color and line type of the layer the Xref was on and not the layer they were on in their own file and installed the update which corrected that, but now we have this new problem.

I am attaching the two files.  Any help is appreciated

Why are your DWG files in 2010 format?

There appears to be another dwg file, xrefed, that is not posted.

In the top file, may layers are frozen and once thawed appear to show a lot of content.

See attached: all saved to R2018dwg format.

Apologies, re-read the original post and realized my suggestion was already taken.

But still not all the objects show up. Also why does thawing layer zero
that the Xref isn’t on make some of the walls come back. The DWG file not
attached is just a legend file with only linework and text in it. It is
behaving properly.

I saved it down to 2010 to see if this behavior was happening in earlier
versions… It isn’t. so for now we are just working on this project in
2016, but there is obviously some issue with 2018 that needs to be
addressed. Maybe it will be fixed in a future update.

Friend, I have no idea what your file should or should not look like, I can only go by what I see. If you see more or not enough, start posting screenshots (from 2016?) to elaborate your concerns in more detail.

What I see isn't really relevant.  Even in your files if I have layer 0 frozen the walls disapear even though the walls are not on layer 0 in their original file and the Xref is not on layer 0 in the working file.  This isn't acceptable, and it's not the behavior from previous versions.  Something is pretty obviously broken.  Why should freezing or thawing layer 0 have anything at all to do with how AEC objects in an Xref display?  Has it been fixed in 2019?  Is there going to be a fix made for 2018?

AutoCAD/ARCH 101: Never ever freeze or turn off layer 0, it is used as the basis to create objects all over the place. And never draw on layer 0 as a general rule. Just pretend it not there, leave it alone, on/thawed/unlocked/printing.

Whether it did it on earlier versions or not its hard to tell, I'm not Autodesk (and no one else answering here is likely to be) and we don't keep old versions to test. We are currently using ACA2019 if that matters.

Is that all the actual problem was? Or are we diverting or a bit to discuss another item on your list?

No… as the screen shot I posted shows some of the walls are still missing
even if layer 0 is thawed.
