I see hinged and bi-folds, no overhead doors.  Where'd they go?  Using Architecture 2016.

Where are you located, and what content have you installed?

If you are in the United States, or have installed the U.S. Imperial and/or Metric content, in the Content Browser, you should have at least one of the following catalogs:

  • Design Tool Catalog - Imperial
  • Design Tool Catalog - Metric

Open the catalog, and drill down through the Doors and Windows > Doors categories.  You should find three overhead Door Styles:  Overhead - 4 Window, Overhead - Coiling and Overhead - Sectional.  The first or third style will most likely be closest to what you want.

I think my install somehow missed them, that's why I'm not finding them.  Where would they be located in my install folders?  Can I just copy and paste them over?

If you do not have the Design Tool Catalogs, the default location for US content is:

C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\ACA 20xx\enu\Tool Catalogs\Design - Imperial\Design - Imperial.atc

C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\ACA 20xx\enu\Tool Catalogs\Design - Metric\Design - Metric.atc

Substitute the year of the version you are using for 20xx.

If you are using a more recent release and using the Styles Browser to add styles to your drawing, then the source file for the styles you want needs to be part of your Library (assuming you are not going to open it just to add a style).  The default location and file for US Door Style content is:

C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\ACA 20xx\enu\Styles\Imperial\Door Styles (Imperial).dwg

C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\ACA 20xx\enu\Styles\Metric\Door Styles (Metric).dwg

Substitute the year of the version you are using for 20xx.

Note that the location of the content files can be customized at the time of installation or when a deployment is created.  For example, my office has the out-of-the-box content on a network drive, so everyone is pulling from the same location and same content.  If you have access to another installation, you should be able to copy content files to your computer.  If you are using Content Browser, you may need to add any tool catalogs that were not present at the time of the installation.
