What is the ideal for Project Standard and Configuration Standard?

what format should I use for each config? (dwg, dwt, dws)

Should I use just one unique standard for Project Standard and Configuration Standard? if yes, which? (dwg, dwt, or dws)

anyone could share a sample for configuration standard with the project with all the Layer Key Styles? I do not know how to inser all Layer Keys to the drawing for my Standard file.

the context is that I tried DWG, DWT, and DWS formats but I did not found a difference. Which should I use?

  1. Start using the Project Browser & Project Navigator if you haven't already.
  2. Edit the project in the Project tab of the Project Navigator and set up your standards there (templates, Project standards, etc.  The project standards dialog includes settings for standard styles, synchronization, and AutoCAD standards.

I was testing dwg, dwt, and dws, in your image you are using dwg for styles and display settings, but in the "AutoCAD Standard" tab is necessary DWS, and when I try to export my layers to the main file for "checking standard", the dws standard, is necessary use DWT.

All mentioned can be added to the style and display standard manager, then which format should I use? DWS? if is suggested dws, this not could generate any error or problem or bug? how can I sync all my layers automatically for my AutoCAD Standards?

It's not clear whether you are using Project Browser/Navigator. Are you?  Have you experimented or explored how the sample projects do it?

Yes, I am using the 3 files for sync my project, but I am not sure if use a dws or DWT could  cause any problem, or if those formats could be better that DWG, for the AutoCAD standard I can not find a way to sync my layer, or how should use such option?

I also have doubts why autocad arch mep is not using one dwg for sync all styles

  • Standards command
    • requires DWS files
    • has 4 plug-ins (dimension styles, layers, linetypes, and text styles).
    • has configurable settings for notification and for fixing "problems".
    • allows more than one dws file and has options for manually or automatically selecting the  preferred dws file but that seems like it would cause too much complexity for most situations.
  • Projectstandards command
    • Only works if a project is currently active.
    • Is only available in verticals
    • Incorporates the standards command as one of the tabs but only for CAD styles. Disables the separate settings and plug-in choices of the standards command.
    • Allows you to copy project standards from another project.
    • Uses and dw* type (dwt, dws, dwg).
    • Uses as many reference drawings as desired but has a matrix allowing the drafter to choose which object/style is controlled by which drawing.
    • I am unclear about how conflicts between layer standards and layer key styles might be resolved.

IMO, there should be little need for project standards for a single level ACA or MEP user with control over the whole project as long as templates are consistently used.  Otherwise it provides a very useful versioning system for coordinating large projects by a project manager.

AutoDesk is trying to provide the most flexibility but that also increases complexity.
