Wall opening issue

I'm working in ACA 2016 and I get this issue when I have openings on both sides of a wall.  Adding a wall merge condition fixes it but I don't want to have to do that every time.  This happens with both default and custom wall styles that I use.

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks,
Todd

I am not seeing that here (ACA 2014, US Imperial template and content).

Are you certain that your openings only abut the perpendicular Wall, and do not cut into it?  Does the Wall with the Openings have a Wall Opening Endcap Style assigned to it for Openings?  Could the Wall Endcap Style assigned to the Jamb Start and Jamb End require space to resolve itself that is not provided by the Opening when it is set flush to the perpendicular Wall?

If none of the above helps, can you attach a sample drawing that exhibits that behavior?

I didn't have the issue in 2014 either. I tested with a default wall style so I haven't made any changes to the endcaps.  If I flip the justification line the break flips as well.  The openings have a 0" offset from the perpendicular wall.

I have now had a chance to test this in ACA 2016, and I still cannot reproduce your results.

Hi @Tallans422,

Thank you for posting your question here in the community. Could you please provide a sample drawing where this is happening?

This will allow us to analyze your file directly, to determine what is causing the problem in your files more quickly.

Hi @Tallans422,

Thank you for posting the sample drawing. When I open it in ACA 2016, I can see the problem with the existing walls, and nothing I've done to refresh them seems to help.

However, when I create new walls in the same style, and add openings (before or after placing the perpedicular walls), they display correctly, even inside your same drawing. This leads me to believe there may be a problem with the program on your machine specifically.

Have you tried repairing ACA 2016? If not, I recommending doing so to try to restore the correct functionality.

Hi Victoria,

I did some more digging and found that I DON'T have the issue if I use my wall styles in a template I created in ACA 2014. Only in the 2016 template. I compared properties of my interior wall style in both drawings and they are identical. One other thing I noticed is that I can pick the "end" of an opening in the 2014 template, whereas I have to pick the front or back edge of the opening to select it in the 2016 template. This is the case on all machines that I've installed 2016 on.

Very odd.

I am not seeing that in 2014 or 2016.  Perhaps, in your 2014 template file, you have the Width Lines component turned on for Openings in the active Display Representation in your plan view.

You nailed it David.  I don't know why I didn't think of that but it was the Med. Detail display representation for openings that I forgot to change with my new template.  That took care of the issue.

Thanks,

Todd
