Hi @kostimea,

Are you using the XREFLAYER feature? What is this set to, and is that layer locked?

I use the project navigator to place my view drawings on a layer, that isn´t locked. After recent tryes, my view file is placed as a block, I cannot change its scale settings. However it appears in the xref menu and its layers are listed as xrefed layers.

Hi @kostimea,

I'm sorry to hear this is still happening in your files.

  • Is this just one particular View and/or Sheet?
  • What happens if you create a new Sheet and try to drag the View onto it?
  • If it's happening to all Sheets, is it just happening in one project, or every project?
  • Does the same thing happen if you drag-and-drop vs. right-click and choose Place on Sheet?

You might also review these similar threads, and try the solutions that other users have found in the past when this has happened:

Hi,

i have reencountered the same problem with a view file not opening in a sheet again. I think it has occured to me already in 4 projects, and the problem somehow always disappeared...accidentally..

It happens with only one view. I have tried inserting it in different sheets, but it doesn´t work anywhere. I drag and drop it and nothing happens: no error message, nothing. I can insert the view as an xref, but then it is inserted as a block and not a viewport.

Other views get inserted regularly on any sheet.

I have tried copying the view, relaunching autocad, checking the xml file, nothing helped.

Other views containing the same or similar constructs also get inserted regularly..

All my view names are different, I don´t repeat any file name in the project.

thank you for any advice

I am having the same problem with inserting views from Project Navigator. Did you ever get a resolution for this? I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the template that is used to create the sheet file. I also get this message when trying to save the files that are giving me problems...

Error Message - Update Failed.JPG

I didn't find a clear solution for this problem yet. It has also
disappeared along the way. It might have been the fault of the template
file...
You could check if the view file appears on the xref list of the sheet. If
so, then maybe the view is inserted but it is not shown in the zoom area. A
I encountered this situation I have created 2 xlines crossing in the view
file. The xlines helped me to find the view on the layout.

I have reencountered the error with a view file not loading on a sheet. I think the problem should be with the view file, not with the sheet, because I can load other views on this sheet, but I cannot load this sheet on any other view file.

My autocad has crashed a few times (pc problem) while I was working on this view. I had to recover the file and save it as the original view file after the crash. Maybe this is the reason why the view is not loading.

Any ideas how I could maybe 'refresh' this view in the project, so it get´s found and recognised for the sheets again?

I have tried purge and audit on the view and all it´s xrefs but it didn´t help.
