Unload XRef option greyed out

Hello all,

I have a dwg file and some XRef drawings within it.

If some of the XRef DWGs are unloaded or not found, I try to detach them and clean the parent DWG.

But in this one instance the detach option is greyed out as seen in the image below.

Now how do I remove them from the parent DWG permanently?

Any chance the file in question is nested inside another external reference (even if it is also directly referenced in this file)?  If so, you will not be able to detach it.

That is not the case in this parent DWG. But if I attach a new XRef (Practically and dwg) the list gets refreshed and I was able to detach the missing XRefs.
